Programme Delivery
The Davis Dyslexia programmes represent a common sense approach based on the strengths of the dyslexic mind. They effectively combine an innovative learning method with one to one facilitation to overcome dyslexia, ADD and other related learning problems.
Firstly a meeting is scheduled for an Initial Consultation and Perceptual Ability Assessment. During this time, I assess the client's suitability, needs and motivation. We fully discuss the objectives and anticipated outcomes from a programme.
This is a free consultation and it takes approximately 2 hours.- There is no obligation for you to book a programme at this time. To gain further insights into the programme you can buy or borrow the book “The Gift of Dyslexia” by Ron Davis.
- A Davis programme generally consists of 30-hours and I deliver this over 5 or more consecutive days.
- It is a one-to-one facilitated delivery that allows me to discuss individual needs as they arise. We have many short breaks during the day and we work at your pace to ensure certainty and success.
- The daily hours are 9am – 12pm and 1pm – 4.00pm (primary school children 1pm – 3pm). You will need to bring snacks to have throughout the day.
- An hour break at lunchtime requires a primary school aged individual to have someone supervise them.
- Acceptance of a programme is determined by both the individual/parent and myself.
- It is essential that the client is well motivated as it is they who can help solve their dyslexia problems.
- A support person is required for the follow-up recommendations during the programme and the final few hours of the Davis Correction® Programme. They are trained to continue to work with the client.
After the programme with the facilitator, there is ongoing work required: Davis reading exercises, Koosh balls exercises and mastery of trigger words in clay. The work needs to be accommodated around family/ school and should be considered carefully when deciding to book a programme. With a consistent approach this can comfortably be finished in 1year - 18mths.
Reviews are scheduled on an individual basis as needed and there are 3 free reviews included in the programme. Support persons and the client are welcome to phone whenever there is any difficulty. The post programme review sessions are for when there is a need to fully review any of the skills and techniques learned during the programme.
Professional services described as Davis™, Davis Dyslexia Correction®, Davis Symbol Mastery™, Davis Orientation Counselling™, Davis Math Mastery™, Davis Attention Mastery™, Dyslexia the Gift™ and Gift of Dyslexia™ may only be provided by persons who are employed by a licensed Davis Specialist, or who are trained and licensed as Davis Facilitators by Davis Dyslexia Association International
